A major accomplishment for the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department was the creation of an investigations unit. The Unit consists of three detectives and two narcotics investigators.

Immediate results of this unit were realized, with an increase in arrests and clearances. The arrests and clearances increased, by double digits in major categories including burglary, theft, sex crimes, and crimes against children and narcotics cases.

High profile cases and major case investigations are now the norm for the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department. Three such high profile cases consist of a local attorney methamphetamine operation and two separate major multijurisdictional burglary rings. One of the burglary rings consisted of a white supremacy group. Sheriff Seelye's background and past experience along with the staff he has assembled eliminated jurisdictional restrictions. An example of this networking ability was evident in a law enforcement multijurisdictional effort (US Marshal Service, FBI, ATF and Indiana State Police) that resulted in dismantling a major burglary ring culminating in an arrest in Florida.

The criminal investigation section has recovered an excess of over one hundred thousand dollars in stolen property since their inception. Operation NASTI (Narcotics Apprehension and Suppression Through Intervention) and Operation NASTIER (Narcotics Apprehension and Suppression Through Intervention Eradication Repeat) were two undercover narcotics operation that resulted in over 30 sealed indictments. Their case management and accountability are a direct responsibility for the increased arrests, clearances and the recovery of stolen property.
