These outstanding civilians and deputies serve public safety in the Jail Division, Communications Division, Civil Division, Administrative Division, and Criminal Division. Since the establishment of the Harrison County Indiana Sheriff's Department our Department has dedicated it's personnel to better serve and protect the citizens of Harrison County.
The Harrison County Sheriff's Department is a public service organization that provides civil, corrections and law enforcement services to Harrison County, Indiana. Now Hiring Police Officers and Lateral Transfers
We are beginning a hiring process for full-time police officers. Positions will be filled from a pool of new recruits and/or academy trained lateral transfers.
A written test must be taken by all new recruits. Lateral transfers are exempt from taking the written test.
For new recruits, visit www.empco.net and follow their step by step instructions to take the written test at one of their many testing locations. The Sellersburg Ivy Tech is currently creating test dates for local applicant's convenience.
Candidates must set up an account, visit the testing facility as scheduled, take the test and achieve a minimum score of 70% to continue in the hiring process.

Completed applications are due on or prior to the physical fitness assessment which has been scheduled to take place on Friday, February 22nd at 1:00 pm, at the Corydon YMCA located at 198 Jenkins Court NE, Corydon, IN 47112.
All applicants must be in excellent physical condition and be able to pass the ILEA physical fitness exit standards.
